PREVIOUSLY: The Louisiana Teacher/Student Threesome Sex Scandal: A Plea Bargain for One…
I have Google Alerts set to keep my appraised of further developments in this case. I got several links this morning, including:
Teacher pleads guilty to sex with student, posts her joy to social media
And, my personal favorite, just for the creative headline:
Convicted student fucker celebrates light sentence with selfie
So, after reaching her plea deal in one case, which keeps her out of jail, Shelley Dufresne posted a happy selfie on Instragram, smiling with her hand in the air, like she just won a major victory.
I guess some people take exception to this, as it suggests a seemingly cavalier attitude. I imagine that this may impact her remaining criminal case, where she and Rachel Respess are charged for the threesome they had with the student. It would seem that after this was reported, she must have gotten some harsher comments on Instagram, which is still private but the headline now reads: “Only God Can Judge Me” Please Do Not Harass Me. Everybody Makes Mistakes. Retired Teacher. Family Oriented. Louisiana, NO.
“People make mistakes.” Right. I’m sorry, but locking your keys in your car is a “mistake.” Banging a teenager when you’re an adult married mother of three young children (ages 3, 5, and 7) is a little more than that. But maybe that’s just me…
I have to say that this make me hope for a harsher sentence next time. I’m sorry, but this woman needs to go to jail.
Since her arrest on September 30, Dufresne has remained free on bond. While she has been under house arrest during this time, the rules of the sequester have been loosened so that she can attend therapy sessions, Jazzercize classes and help drive her 3, 5, and 7-year-old children to school and extracurricular activities. However, she had to spend 8pm to 7am inside her home during the weekdays
Okay, I understand letting her go to therapy, and taking her kids to school, but Jazzercize classes?!? How was THAT allowed?
As for what happens next:
The Jefferson Parish district attorney’s office has not yet decided whether to charge either woman in the Kenner case. Police booked them with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Respess’ attorney, Jeffrey Smith, maintains she is innocent of having “consensual sex” with the student: “You don’t have to say no to mean no if you’re not able to give true consent. My position on that one night is, Rachel Respess did not have consensual sex with this young man.” Respess’ next scheduled court date is a status hearing April 30. She is not required to attend. Dufresne’s next scheduled court date on the Kenner case is a May 8 status hearing. She is not required to attend. Her attorney on this case, Jim Williams, would not comment Thursday on her guilty plea in St. Charles Parish.
In the meantime, I’ve sent Dufresne a follow request on Instagram. You think she’ll add me?
